Practitioner’s Corner August 2009
Dr. Michael Beckwith in “Life Visioning” states
that all spiritual evolution begins with embarrassment.
This makes total sense from my personal
experiences. As we find a voice, our voice, we begin with stutters
and stammers. We’ll hit sour notes or, as we begin to express
ourselves for the first time, we may do so poorly. We may even be
criticized by loved ones and our own egos as we try to make changes
in our lives and find our new voice. That new voice won’t begin
strong or familiar. Yet it’s this embarrassment which is a prelude
to a proficiency. Remember the first time we step onto a dance floor
or played a musical instrument. It’s a very scary moment. This
spiritual evolution is an unknown like a first date - a date with
the Divine, no less. And we can just imagine this date being really
great yet embarrassing as we expose who we really are for all to
see. It’s through that exposing of ourselves that we find the
Divinity within. It’s that inner Divinity which we expose as we
search for that new voice. As fear is released, our Divinity is
exposed. As our need to control is released our Divinity is exposed.
As we release anger and begin to love, our Divinity is exposed.
Michael states that 100% of spiritual evolution is releasing
something. It may not be easy. Spiritual evolution is not for
cowards. But it is a necessary evolution and It is truly rewarding.
So let’s get onto the dance floor and dance.
